They are all sort runways. While there maybe be just enough room to land and stop, there is no margin for error. Land to long down and you are boned , come in a little to fast from a tail wind, and you're gonna have problem. They don't have to be ringed with crashed planes to be risky. Also a few of them have a mountain sitting at one end or the other, try making a go around and having to pull up over heavy woods or hills at just above stall speed.
